Diapoules & Feinstein was founded in 1989 on the ideologies of exceptional work and individualized service. In the time since, our modest staff has grown to a formidable group of knowledgeable accountants and financial advisors.
JAMES DIAPOULES, C.P.A., M.S.
President of LIE Chapter of NCCPAP
A certified public accountant since 1985, James Diapoules was tax manager of a regional public accounting firm before establishing his own practice. He is a specialist in federal and state tax audits, estate valuations, and tax returns. In addition, he has extensive experience in the compilation, review and audit of financial statements from small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He holds a B.S. from State University of New York at Stony Brook and an M.S. from C.W. Post College. He also holds an insurance and investment license. He is a financial planner who holds a number of insurance and investment licenses.
MARVIN FEINSTEIN, C.P.A., M.S.

Marvin Feinstein has been a certified public accountant since 1983, having worked previously as senior tax specialist for a regional accounting firm. In addition to his extensive tax practice, he is a specialist in compilation and review of records for closely held businesses, estate valuations, trusts, and tax returns. He is a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, and holds a B.S. degree from Brooklyn College and an M.S. from Long Island University. He is a financial planner who holds a number of insurance and investment licenses.”
KATHERINE A. KNIPPER, C.P.A., B.B.A.
Katherine A. Knipper has been an accountant with Diapoules & Feinstein since 1997. Prior to her joining D&F, Ms. Knipper was a controller for a private company. She has experience in the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns as well as in the preparation of compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements. She has over 15 years’ experience with small businesses and brings that knowledge and expertise to our clients. She earned her BBA at Dowling College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the AICPA and is also a Notary Public for the State of New York.
LAWRENCE H. HOCHBERG, C.P.A.
Lawrence H. Hochberg became a certified public account in 1979. A year later he opened his own practice and specialized in tax and accounting for small to medium size businesses in various industries. Lawrence also handles tax preparation and planning for individuals. In January, 2012 his firm was merged into Diapoules & Feinstein.
Michael Kappel, C.P.A., JD
Michael Kappel, a Certified Public Accountant since 1986, has 30 years of CPA/Tax experience. Receiving his BS in Accounting from Syracuse where he was Magna Cum Laude, an MS in Taxation from Baruch College and finally his JD from Fordham Law School. Michael worked for firms such as Janover, LLC as Tax Manager, KPMG as a Tax Reviewer of high net worth individuals, C and S Corporations. In addition Michael also fulfilled the role of Tax Director at Weiser Mazars, LLP for over 10 years. A Member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Taxation of Individuals Committee, and the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants. Michael currently is serving as our Tax Principal in Manhattan, we look forward to utilizing his vast knowledge to benefit our clients.
Robert R. Sick, C.P.A.
Bob is a Certified Public Accountant professional with over thirty years of public accounting experience. Most recently he was the Principal in Robert R. Sick CPA P.LLC located in Patchogue NY. In addition to his professional practice, Bob has more than 25 years of experience serving as a Fire District Treasurer providing him with extensive experience in Fire District Management, municipal law and internal control practices and procedures. Bob has had the privilege of teaching accounting and business courses at both Dowling and Suffolk Community Colleges; and has spoken at professional conferences about tax and practice management issues. Bob earned both a BBA and MBA from Hofstra University in 1978 and 1980, respectively.
Richard J. Grebinger, C.P.A.
Richard Grebinger has been a certified public accountant since 1983. After receiving his CPA license, Rich became a corporate controller for a large supermarket chain in New York City and eventually became a principal in a Long Island tax preparation firm before establishing his own practice. Rich is a specialist in small and medium size business accounting, corporate and personal tax preparation, non-profit accounting, taxpayer representation and financial planning. Rich is a member of the AICPA and NCCPAP Nassau/Suffolk Chapter, and holds a BA degree from Queens College CUNY.
