Our Story and Pedigree
Diapoules & Feinstein CPAs was founded in 1989 on the ideologies of exceptional work and individualized service. In the time since, our modest staff has grown to a formidable group of knowledgeable accountants and financial advisors.
JAMES DIAPOULES, C.P.A., M.S.
Partner
A certified public accountant since 1985, James Diapoules was tax manager of a regional public accounting firm before establishing his own practice. He is a specialist in federal and state tax audits, estate valuations, and tax returns. In addition, he has extensive experience in the compilation, review and audit of financial statements from small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He holds a B.S. from State University of New York at Stony Brook and an M.S. from C.W. Post College. He also holds an insurance and investment license. He is a financial planner who holds a number of insurance and investment licenses.
MARVIN FEINSTEIN, C.P.A., M.S.

Marvin Feinstein has been a certified public accountant since 1983, having worked previously as a senior tax specialist for a regional accounting firm. In addition to his extensive tax practice, he is a specialist in compilation and review of records for closely held businesses, estate valuations, trusts, and tax returns. He is a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, and holds a B.S. degree from Brooklyn College and an M.S. from Long Island University. He is a financial planner who holds a number of insurance and investment licenses.”
KATHERINE A. KNIPPER, C.P.A., B.B.A.

Katherine A. Knipper has been an accountant with Diapoules & Feinstein CPAs since 1997. Prior to her joining Diapoules & Feinstein CPAs, Ms. Knipper was a controller for a private company. She has experience in the preparation of corporate and individual tax returns as well as in the preparation of compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements. She has over 20+ years’ experience with small businesses and brings that knowledge and expertise to our clients. She earned her BBA at Dowling College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is a member of the AICPA and is also a Notary Public for the State of New York.

A Certified Public Accountant with 25 years of large and small CPA firm experience providing tax, accounting, audit and advisory services to large and small family-owned business and their stakeholders. His experience in broad based financial and tax knowledge makes him a sought after trusted advisor to closely held companies in the manufacturing/processing and distribution of Food and Beverage products, Restaurants, Construction, and Real Estate Industries. His experience also includes Professional Practices, Employee Benefit plans, Recreation, Not for Profit and Other industries. Expertise in assisting clients with a variety of audit, accounting and tax issues, which includes, tax credits, state and local tax incentives for companies doing business in New York and multi-state corporate taxation.

Joseph "Joey" Milbauer, Director of Accounting
Joseph “Joey” Milbauer joined Diapoules & Feinstein CPAs P.C. in 2016 as a part time intern for tax season and has worked his way to becoming the Director of Accounting. Joey attended St. Joseph’s University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2019 with his BA in Accounting. Joey has found great success in working with his clients in a knowledgeable, attentive, and easy-going manner that truly exemplifies D&F’s foundational characteristic of being our clients’ “Partner in Success”. Currently, Joey has a wide array of business and personal tax clients in the service, manufacturing and retail industry while also finding his niche in the cannabis industry and working with professional athletes. Throughout COVID, Joey has been proactive in making sure D&F’s clients have been at the forefront of receiving any COVID grants, loans and opportunities. Joey procured over 150 PPP forgivable loans amounting to over $10,000,000 for our clients.
LAWRENCE H. HOCHBERG, C.P.A.

Lawrence H. Hochberg became a certified public accountant in 1979. A year later, he opened his own practice and specialized in tax and accounting for small to medium size businesses in various industries. Lawrence also handles tax preparation and planning for individuals. In January, 2012, his firm was merged into Diapoules & Feinstein CPAs.
Michael Kappel, C.P.A., JD
Tax Principal
Michael Kappel, a Certified Public Accountant since 1986, has 30 years of CPA/Tax experience. Receiving his BS in Accounting from Syracuse where he was Magna Cum Laude, an MS in Taxation from Baruch College and finally his JD from Fordham Law School. Michael worked for firms such as Janover, LLC as Tax Manager, KPMG as a Tax Reviewer of high net worth individuals, C and S Corporations. In addition Michael also fulfilled the role of Tax Director at Weiser Mazars, LLP for over 10 years. A Member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Taxation of Individuals Committee, and the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants. Michael currently is serving as our Tax Principal in Manhattan, we look forward to utilizing his vast knowledge to benefit our clients.
Richard J. Grebinger, C.P.A.
Richard Grebinger has been a certified public accountant since 1983. After receiving his CPA license, Rich became a corporate controller for a large supermarket chain in New York City and eventually became a principal in a Long Island tax preparation firm before establishing his own practice. Rich is a specialist in small and medium size business accounting, corporate and personal tax preparation, non-profit accounting, taxpayer representation and financial planning. Rich is a member of the AICPA and NCCPAP Nassau/Suffolk Chapter, and holds a BA degree from Queens College CUNY.
Michael B. Jackson, C.P.A.
Director
A senior professional with more than 25 years of public accounting experience providing accounting, tax, audit and advisory services. He specializes in servicing closely-held family owned businesses in the apparel, manufacturing and service Industries.
Currently, he's a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
